It’s official:Albany yard is open!
The Albany Yard opening day was a huge success with too many people to count and a generous number of spot prizes distributed. The miniature donkeys were the star of the show and Lyndle took great pleasure in sharing the donkey experience with young and old alike.
Ruud Kleinpaste was there to share his knowledge of the garden and of course to let his weta crawl over any one game enough to put their hand out. Thanks Ruud for taking the time to drop in.
Mr Whippy just about ran out of ice cream and the sausage cookers cooked themselves out of a job by the end of the day.
We wish to thank all the visitors and hope they had a great time and we look forward to seeing them all soon.
The special part of the day of course was for the two major prizes of $500 of Living Earth Garden Mix. The first prize was based on Facebook likes for schools from the North Shore. With so many entries it was a close run thing in the end because although Stanmore Bay Primary won the Facebook likes, Ridgeview School turned up on the day in great numbers. As per the rules, those who turned up on the day got two votes. It came right down to the wire and Ridgeview took it out by just one vote.
The next prize was for a member of the public to win $500 worth of Living Earth Garden Mix. Ruud Kleinpaste drew a name from the entry box, so Congratulations to James and Emma Howe. As luck would have it they were there to represent their school, Stanmore Bay. While James and Emma could have said thank you very much and kept the prize for themselves, they donated the $500 of Living Earth Garden Mix to their School, Stanmore Bay Primary!
We are pleased to be part of the Albany community and even more pleased to have met so many wonderful people. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you all in the future.
